Services for All
A Home Defined
Home (h m)
n - A dwelling place together with the family or social
unit that occupies it; a household; an environment offering security and
happiness1.
A home is not just made up of the walls that surround and protect you.
A home is a place to express your personality and opinions, a place in
which to feel comfortable; a place in which to call your own.
These same principles apply to Mount Pleasant Home, but with some
added comforts. The following services are included for all
residents without separate charge unless otherwise noted:
Private Bedrooms - Each resident has his or her own room and
closet within a larger household shared with others. Furniture can
be provided by Mount Pleasant or the resident. Cable television
subscription service is
available in each room but is also provided in the common areas.
Telephone hookup is also an option for each room, but as an alternative,
we have resident phones with totally free nationwide calling for making and receiving calls.
Open Living
Areas - The living rooms, Dining Room, Kitchenettes, Library,
Activity Room, Sun Room, and airy porches are shared by all residents.
These rooms are open for use by all at all times.
Activities and Events - Leisure time activities are available to
fit a range of interests. Lawns, walkways, gardens, and woods are
available for exercise and enjoyment of nature.
Nutritious Home-Style Meals - Served three times daily with many
options to choose from. And just like at home, special dietary
restrictions can be taken into account to suit each resident's needs.
Snacks and beverages are available for in-between-meal urges in the
Kitchenette. Stocked with a stove, microwave, coffee machines, tea
kettle, and refrigerator, the Kitchenette is for use by residents, their
guests, and staff members alike.
Personal Care Staff
-
These caregivers are present 24 hours a
day to respond to emergencies and provide assistance. They fill and
administer prescription medications as directed by a resident's physician.
In addition, Personal Care maintains medical records and coordinates
appointments and transportation.
Professional
Medical Care - Every resident must have a chosen primary care
physician who he/she sees at least twice a year.
The
Urban Medical Group and
Boston Medical Center's Geriatric Unit have physicians and nurse
practitioners who regularly visit Mount Pleasant Home. Residents may
elect to use these services or those of another primary care office.
Mount Pleasant does not make medical care recommendations but will provide
access to the exam room for any practice.
Laundry and Housekeeping - Cleaning services are provided for all
resident clothing and linens. Dry cleaning, including weekly pickup and delivery,
are available for a minimum charge. Housekeeping services are
provided weekly for each resident room and daily for the common areas.
Personal Accounts - Available to all residents, these accounts
provide a convenient way to manage personal finances, providing access to cash
withdrawal, and simplifying payment of routine bills (e.g., phone,
pharmacy). Residents may take
care of their own finances or receive assistance by the administrative
staff.
With the goal of encouraging independence, dignity, and respect, we
offer as few or many services as each resident's needs dictate.
