Quality First Covenant
Quality First is a philosophy of quality and a framework for earning
public trust in aging services developed by the
American Association of Homes and Services
for the Aging (AAHSA). As a member of AAHSA, Mount Pleasant Home
is proud to adopt the program and we invite our friends to learn more
about our commitment.
Quality
First allows all stakeholders including policymakers, government, elders,
and their families and friends to understand the standard of care and
quality in aging services that each facility offers...to ensure each
person's right to high quality care and services.
As approved by our Board of Directors,
the Mount Pleasant Home Quality First Covenant for healthy, affordable,
and ethical aging services reads:
-
We are committed to achieving
excellence in the quality of care and services provided to
consumers and to earning the public trust.
-
We believe that aging has a fulfilling
purpose in life and that our society’s elders have enduring
value to family and community.
-
We believe that not-for-profit organizations have a
special role in society to provide healthy, affordable, and ethical
aging services. Our objective is to provide the
highest quality and most compassionate care and services to
the people we serve.
-
We believe that the field of aging services should
adhere to applicable legal, ethical, and professional
standards that are based on stated values and policies in
each of our organizations.
-
We believe that we should strive to offer programs and
services that are based on contemporary
research and knowledge to meet the needs of the people we
service as well as paid and volunteer caregivers, to the best of our
ability.
-
We acknowledge the commitment and
responsibility the American Association of Homes and Services
for the Aging has made to offer the tools, information, education, and
support to help us honor this covenant and to provide leadership and
representation of our efforts in the national arena.
Therefore, as a member of AAHSA, we have a special stewardship
responsibility to maintain:
- Continuous Quality Improvement
- Public Disclosure and Accountability
- Consumer and Family Rights
- Workforce Excellence
- Community Involvement
- Ethical Practices
- Financial Integrity
