Senior Art Show
Each summer, Mount Pleasant Home puts on the Senior Art Show displaying
watercolor pieces by the residents. Art teacher and professional
Elva Proctor (pictured at right) kicks off the show by painting a
demonstration piece. Residents comment on how fun it is to watch how
she puts together such amazing pieces while so many watch.
Upon completion of Ms. Proctor's piece, two adjacent activity rooms become an art
museum where people can view watercolor
paintings, cards, and other art works.
Many residents have even discovered a hidden talent for art!
Check out the
article in the Jamaica Plain Gazette where former resident Charlotte
Gridiron partnered with a young artist for an art show in downtown Jamaica
Plain. Charlotte, who was turning 99 at the time, was known to say
that she never knew she was an artist until moving to Mount Pleasant just
a couple of years ago! |
