June 2006
Friends and Neighbors,
Almost three years ago we began planning the
expansion and renovation of Mount Pleasant Home by inviting neighbors to
join with our residents, staff, and family members to create a WISH LIST.
You may have seen descriptions and pictures of our project in local
papers. Our plans have now progressed to seeking the required approvals
from city and state agencies prior to construction. I invite you back
again to view our plans for how we plan to continue the improvement of
services to our elder residents.
Key elements include:
-
20,000 sf addition to the
west of existing building.
-
26,000 sf renovation with
replacement of all systems.
-
Increasing from 44 to 60
residents with private rooms and
bathrooms.
-
Three story south-facing
atrium joining addition to existing building.
-
Variety of living and dining
spaces filled with natural light and fresh air.
-
Separate service drive on
north side of property.
-
Restoration of 1 acre
woodland with walking paths under tree canopy.
-
Woodlands rain-garden basin
to retain storm water on site.
-
Urban Medical Group clinic
and office with separate entrance on Garden Level of new addition.
We eagerly welcome your observations,
questions, and suggestions and encourage you to participate in the public
approval process. You can view descriptions of the proposed project at the
Connolly and Sedgwick branches of the Boston Public Library. You can call
anytime, come by for a visit, or see our website for more information.
Attend the public meetings (6/29 & 7/10), announced in the ad at the top
of this page, to participate.
Thank you for your support.
